
What does the Bible say?
Paul said to the Corinthians, “For though you have 10,000 guides in Christ, you do not have many fathers.” At this time, 10,000 is hardly hyperbolic in describing the number of people who sometimes unfortunately influence our thoughts and impact our behavior more than the one who gave us His life–Jesus. It is not uncommon to be identified by whose party, church, group, or fan base we share. However, someday Jesus will be concerned with one thing– Did we know Him? Well, in light of the present, how can we know Him?
While it is easy to look to influencers, those with religious pedigrees, folks boasting 1k’s of followers, and prolific writers and ascribe to a “professionals” beliefs –John reminds us that Jesus is the “Word made flesh.” Rather than taking a “professional” at their word whose motives and actions cannot always be known, we can always look to Jesus. And if we want to know Him, we must Know IT. To know Jesus is to know the Bible. To know the Bible is to know Jesus. Jesus enfleshed the Word while He walked the earth giving it legs, limbs, a mouth, otherwise known as –> ACTION. He was and is the Word Lived— and He is calling us to the same life and cross he lived and carried.
